Sitting by the Seaside

With record Seattle rains pouring down it's hard to believe we were building sandcastles on the beach and dipping our toes in the Pacific Ocean just a few weeks ago!! I shouldn't be surprised to see fall weather since we're well into September, but we had such a nice long summer it's still a bit shocking to see those rain clouds overhead.

We had such an amazing time on the Oregon coast when Char and Freddie were visiting.  I feel very lucky that our family has a cabin (passed through generations) in Seaside, OR just blocks from the beach.  Even though I know the cabin is always available we don't make it down to Seaside often enough so I was thrilled we all went.

Seaside, OR

The kids had a great time playing on the beach and splashing in the freezing cold ocean water. Ollie had been walking for about 2 weeks when we went so he was able to toddle around and explore.  The beach was a fabulous place for my new walker to find his footing, mainly because I didn't have to hover around blocking his falls.  He was free to wonder around in the soft sand and tumble as he pleased.

Giving Ollie a smooch on the beach while cousin Freddie looks on.

I will be dreaming of those summer Seaside days as we approach winter.  While I love bundling up with an extra hot pumpkin spice latte, summer will always be my favorite season.

What is everyone doing to cure the rainy day blues? Any indoor kiddo activities you can share?

Back at it!

It's been too long blog world - sorry for my extended hiatus.  Since my last post we have moved into our new house (woot woot!).  As the saying goes the only thing harder than moving is death . . . and while I'm not sure I agree 100% with that sentimate it has kept me super busy. But enough excuses.

The new house!
Besides the moving we've also been lucky enough to be a part of two very important weddings this summer. My brother Max and his lady Natalie were married at the end of August, and a week later Ollie made his walking debut as the ring-bearer for two of my bestest friends Anton and Jody.  I love wedding season, fun celebrations, dancing and great friends.

My two sisters, Char and Margaret, traveled with their dudes and baby from Edinburgh to Seattle for the celebrations, which made it all the more fun. We've since been running around doing a mad number of activities trying to soak in the final days of summer. It's always so nice to have the whole family back in Seattle.  It's especially fun seeing all four cousins back together again!

Bath time! 4 cousins in the tub!

What are you doing to keep the summer vibes going? I'm running out of ideas!
