Old MacDonald

A couple weeks ago, during the Seattle heatwave, my mom and I took Ollie and my niece Keeley to Kelsey Creek Farm, a restored and working farm that is owned and operated by the city of Bellevue.

Visiting Kelsey Creek Farm

The animals we're out grazing in the fields enjoying the sunshine so we were lucky enough to see ponies, sheet, goats, pigs, rabbits, and chickens.  I'm not a huge fan of petting zoos, they tend to overwhelm me and I always think some kid is going to get bit, so this was a fun way to see farm animals while staying safely behind the cute white picket fence.  Ollie was pretty neutral on the farm visit (10 months is a bit young), but Keeley (older and wiser at 20 months) loved pointing out and naming all the animals. She would walk right up to the fence and talk to them, and then turn back to Ollie wondering why he didn't do the same!

After we got our fill of the farm we walked through the park to the playground for a picnic lunch.  Keeley has been enjoying dining 'alfresco' (currently one of her favorite words to say) so she and Ollie had a great time sharing strawberries while my mom and I sipped our Diet Cokes.

What a wonderful day! Hopefully the rain will subside soon and we'll get a chance to visit again!

  1. Looks like fun! I love that pic of them looking through the fence.

  2. Love that Keeley loves saying al fresco. Haha. Great pics! The one of mutti and ollie is hilar

  3. Wow I haven't heard of Kelsey Creek Farm, it looks like so much fun! What a wonderful place to take kids. :-)
