Trip Review: Edinburgh

It's currently 7 am and Ollie and I have been up since 3 . . . oh jet lag you evil mind bender.  It's totally worth it though because we had a fabulous time in Edinburgh.

The day after we arrived a Alex and Andy ran the Edinburgh Rock n' Roll half marathon in some extreme wind and rain. The rest of us went to the finish line to cheer them on and got a taste of the Scottish wind - wowza! So impressed they were able to handle the weather and the hills, especially Alex who was also battling jet lag.  Let's just say I was glad to be a spectator at this race and not a participant.

Both Alex and I have been to Edinburgh before so we didn't feel the need to see a ton of tourist sites. Instead we spend most days interspersing site seeing with more everyday baby activities (park, swimming, story time).  We did visit the Royal Yacht Britannia which neither of us had done before. If you're ever in Scotland I would highly recommend it, it's super cool.  We also hit up the castle, walked the Royal Mile, shopped on Princess Street, and hiked the Holyrood ridge. Here are some pics from the trip.

Ollie did really well with the flight.  I was a bit nervous going into it but he actually slept 4 1/2 hours on the way over and 3 hours on the way back. Not bad! That combined with lots of looooong meals consisting mostly of fingers foods (it still takes Ollie a while to feed himself) really helped the time pass quickly.

Ollie and Freddie also celebrated birthdays while we were visiting. Happy 11 & 9 months cousins!

It's go time!

The Gorohoff's of Greenwood are taking off for a week of fun in Scotland!!! Can't wait to visit my sisters, walk the Royal Mile, and visit the numerous baby-friendly pubs (ha ha).  Wish us luck on our L O N G flight.  Luckily we booked a seat with a carrycot for Ollie to "sleep" in (fingers crossed). At the very least he can sit in it and play with his toys.

Any last minute tips for flying the friendly skies with a small child or baby??

Corina Corina

The last few days have been super exciting for my family.  My sister and brother-in-law welcomed their second baby girl, sweet Corina, into the world.  She was born Saturday (her actual due date!) at 2:08pm, and weighed in at 7 lbs 11 oz.

Ollie and I went to the hospital to welcome his newest baby cousin (poor Alex was home packing for our move), and where we were joined by the rest of the Kay clan.  It was especially fun to see Keeley meet her baby sister.

Ollie told me he's super pumped not to be the baby of the family any more =) Yeah for Corina!!
