O Canada!

What a weekend! Alex, Ollie and I traveled north to Vancouver BC with the whole Gorohoff clan for a President's Day mini-vacation.  Alex's brother's family and our family gave the trip to Alex's parent's (aka Baba & Deda) for Christmas since we all love giving gifts that include trips for ourselves!

We took an early train from Seattle on Saturday and arrived in Vancouver around lunch time.  Tip for those traveling with small children: train travel is FAB!! Tons of leg room, you can walk around, no stopping to feed/nurse, and they serve wine!

After nap time we walked around Robson Street, did a little window shopping and capped the night off with a family dinner celebrating Alex's birthday. Sunday was spent walking around Granville Island where we had a delicious lunch at Bridges Bistro along the water before taking the passenger ferry back to the mainland. One of the best parts - we had sunshine the entire weekend!! What a treat!

Question for those of you with kiddos:

In the past Ollie has traveled fairly easily, sleeping in new locations never threw him off . . . until Saturday night.  For whatever reason Ollie woke up at 4:30 am and for the first time in his life wouldn't go back to sleep.  After trying for an hour, we finally got him up and let him play around. If we were at home I probably would have let him cry a bit more, but since we were in a hotel I was worried our neighbors would be raging. I'm not sure if he had a bad dream, or possibly a teething pain . . . but whatever it was we hope it doesn't follow him back to Seattle! Anyone have a similar experience traveling with a youngster? Any tips for hotel sleep?

I'll leave you with some pics from our weekend!

  1. Great pics! I don't have kids, but I am sure it was teething. If I've learned anythingfrom Freddie is that it's always teething. Teething, teething, teething.
