You make my heart race

This morning was the 9th Annual Valentine Fanconi Anmenia Run/Walk, a race in Portland put on by my Godmother to honor her son Jake who lost his battle with the disease almost 10 years ago.  Fanconi Anemia is a rare life threatening disease that leads to bone marrow failure and cancers in children and young adults.  My cousin Jake and I were only a few month apart in age, and so many of my childhood memories include him cousin sleepovers, orange roll breakfasts, old school computer games, playing cards and board games, etc. Jake was always ready for an adventure!

Ollie and I drove down to help with the race, and to visit with family and friends who we're out in support.  It always brings a smile to my face to see so many people supporting such a great cause, and having such a fun time doing it! Besides the obvious prizes for the race winners, there are also prizes given for the best costumes which makes the run extra fun! I love seeing how creative Portlandites can be with their Valentine attire. If you're in the Portland area be sure to check the race out next year!
